More leaving

Today was Laura's last day. There was a surprise party organized for her last night, during the Happy Hour that she planned weekly for months now that no one ever attended. Unfortunately, this time I really couldn't go because I was doing a SpeakOut engagement. However, it seems that she was thoroughly surprised, if not a bit oblivious and confused. For one thing, her first thought upon walking into the venue and finding all these people from work who had told her they couldn't go to Happy Hour with her was, "How embarrassing! They told me they couldn't go and now they're coincidentally here at the same place as me..." Additionally, on her way to the party, while walking with Brandy, Laura decided to call her boyfriend, Kevin, and invite him to hang out with them, since she assumed it would just be Brandy, Jess, and herself. Kevin was in on the surprise, though, so in order to not blow it when she asked him to come have a beer, he said, "Sure! I'll meet you there!" and hung up before she had told him where they were going. Laura, however, didn't even notice he hadn't asked for the location!

I'm gonna miss her. :(

...can create pretty funny stuff, like remixing a bunch of Bush's speeches to make music. Definitely go listen to the Imagine mix by clicking the link on this page. Listen to the whole song because, although I don't think the beginning is anything tremendous, I love the "Walk on the Wild Side" part!

Do you think the little guy is fertile? Isn't it true that the offspring of a donkey and horse mating is sterile?

Volcano gods

My ongoing check engine light problem continues. I was lamenting to Julie today that it seems like I now carry around a medical record of my car. She said, "Well, you do! It's sick!" To which I responded, "It's not sick. It just has a rash which doesn't really affect it, but doesn't go away, and has now prevented it from being sacrificed to the volcano gods."

Amy, passing by our doorway just in time to hear my last six words, commented, "Only catching fragments of conversations is weird."

Hell yes

New music is good music. In what occurs only once or twice a year, I bought multiple CDs in one go over the weekend. Multiple CDs. Four of them. AND... I think Eric actually approves of at least one of them!! Regardless, I'm very much enjoying the new Beck CD, "Guero", and have, in my own way of listening to music, found several of the tracks worthy of repeated play (now Eric's cringing, no doubt). I'm also liking the Crooked Fingers album, "Dignity and Shame".

More good music news - after converting David's .m4as to .mp3s for him, I have again praise for Winamp and plugins. And in a similar fashion, I have located and made playable on a computer the "vinyl only" release of Beck's Gameboy Variations/Hell Yes EP. Hooray!

Screw spring

Let's head straight to summer. Weatherfox is now indicating it's going to be EIGHTY SIX on Wednesday. We go from snow (last week) to spring (this weekend) and straight into summer. Granted, the rest of the week after that is supposed to be thirty degrees cooler. Sounds like New England to me...

Darth M&Ms

This post has been a long time coming. It's now been several weeks since this was "news" in my mind, but I haven't managed to post about it until tonight:

Rejoice! For there are now Darth M&Ms. M&Ms has released special edition jedi M&Ms to go along with the hype of the soon to be released Star Wars: Episode 3. Not only are the colors all different (dark red, grey, navy blue, purple), but both plain and peanut varieties are available in dark chocolate! Glen stocked up, but I have a feeling we will be purchasing more before they go off the market.

Mmmmm. Beeeeeer.

I'm still disturbed by the fact that Glen can sing the Duff Beer theme song. But that put me in the mood for baseball dinner, which the three of us (that would include Eric) just went out and procured makings of. Hotdogs, sausages, french fries, baked beans, sauerkraut, red cabbage... And beer. Eric is currently running a beer mission. I hope he comes back with something tasty.
