I'm an aunt!

Susanne has a kitten! I'm an aunt! Hooray!!

The funny thing is, I'm not a cat person. At all. I think cats are evil, mean, and willful. But I'm very excited that she would have a kitten. My "neice" is named Mulberry Gray, and Susanne says they call her Mully ("a combination of Mulder and Scully"). I hope she manages pictures soon!

Distance is such a strange concept. It describes, simultaneously, the presence and absence of space. Often, when contemplating distance, I imagine an immense and barren landscape, stretching out before me with only the horizon to catch me before I am catapulting through sheer nothingness. How easy it is, at those times, to be intimidated by loneliness. Yet life is about distances, whether it's a journey from one place to another, mentally or physically, striving for balance and boundaries between work, life, and play, or seeking personal space, more of it, less of it... Life is the complex navigating of all distances so to remain whole.
