Small flute armadillos

Allan always talks about the minute errors people have to fix in their forms. He calls them something I have always heard as "piccadillo". I thought he was being funny, calling their problems "small armadillos". Piccolo being "small" and armadillo being... well... an armadillo. Like having a monkey on one's back or a white elephant or a thousand other animal phrases.

However, the Word of the Day on my Google homepage today was "peccadillo", defined as "a slight offense or petty fault" so I guess that's what he's been saying all along. But I think I like my version better.

Lilo and Stitch

Okay. Likely about two and a half years ago, I loaned one of you my DVD of Lilo and Stitch. And you never gave it back. That's all well and good, since I never asked for it back. But now I'm asking. If you have my DVD of Lilo and Stitch (or even remember me loaning it to you), would you please let me know and give it back if you still know where it is?

Thanks so much.

Duck of doom

Sometimes there are just things which need to be done to completion, or not at all. Munchkin is one of those things. It all started years ago, in Somerville, when a then unknown guy started bringing this card game to my house on Sundays. Now, that same guy and I are seemingly on a quest to acquire one of each set that's out there. We made considerable progress this weekend, with the purchase of two expansion sets for Star Munchkin, Munchkin Fu and its expansion set, and Super Munchkin. We also bought the d10 set that goes with it, which we got because, much to my annoyance, it comes with 14 cards not found elsewhere. ('Cuz why else would anyone playing Munchkin buy d10s? Chances are they already have tons of them. (A d10 is a ten-sided die for those of you not RPG-oriented.)) On order for us are Munchkin Bites! and Munchkin Blender. And I see from the website above there's an expansion set in the works for the latter... /sigh/

I did stop short of purchasing a Munchkin tee shirt (which, yes, gives you bonuses and such during the game). Just seemed a tad too far over the line we had so recently crossed.

Meanwhile, we are accumulating blank cards like crazy. Glen had a great idea to bring them to a comic con or something and get them drawn and signed by artists he likes. He also had a good suggestion for a Munchkin Fu card - Cardboard Paper Towel Tube. Maybe +1 for the masses, and +3 for samurai. (It's a sword, right?)

Any other suggestions for what to put on the blank cards would be welcome. Periodically we come up good ones, but don't write them down, and promptly forget...

dontclick.it

Just found out about a neat site called Don't Click It. It shows a variety of different ways that you can use your mouse to perform tasks instead of clicking the buttons. Play around; it's pretty cool.

Reverse destruction

This guy seems to create rock sculptures and towers out of thin air.

Balancing Point

Although this only seemed to work for me in IE, it's pretty cool. Some are better than others, but it's worth seeing. Hit the green "Watch Video", and then choose Windows Media Player and the fastest speed. (For whatever reason, neither FF nor Quicktime worked for me.)

Blog spam

Okay - I have been realllllly good. I have a separate e-mail account for work than personal than "anyone who might at some point spam me". I get about one spam in my work inbox each month, none in my personal inbox (hooray!), and more than I can count in my third box which is just a spam collector. Recently, though, I've been noticing more and more spam postings to a forum I read, usually "Good point! Click here to gamble away your life savings online!!" or something. Which is sad, but not in my control. But today, the most recent comment on this blog, this very one you're reading, was SPAM! Worse, it was attached to the entry right below this one, which was a rather personal and sparse few sentences that certainly didn't need to be spammed. I deleted the comment, of course, but ARGH.

For real

I was doing okay. Sort of drowning my mental state by just focusing on logistical concerns, running a meeting, collecting keys. But Eric just called to say he's done moving and about to get on the road. We have free phone calls, he said, and e-mail and IM and blogs. I told him to call when he got to Chicago.

Every pop song on the radio is speaking to me

Okay, so they're not really pop songs, and they're not on the radio, but I think nearly every single Crooked Fingers song has lyrics that apply to how I'm feeling. I just got to work, after spending all morning in or near tears, and saying a rather lame goodbye to Eric. I just can't say to him all the stuff that's in my head - it would be 1) too long 2) too jumbled and 3) I'd probably wuss out halfway through, and then we'd both end up awkward and embarrassed about my soul that was laid out on the table.

Chicken Tuition

Driving home from karate this morning, I was daydreaming in the car during a commercial break when I heard them say that some concert or something was being sponsored by "chicken tuition". I thought it must certainly be a joke, so I listened a little closer and sure enough, they said it again. Then they started talking about all the things that chicken tuition could do, including lathering and shaving at the same time: Schick Intuition. It's a new razor.
